Mindfulness In Action

Custom Ceremony Written by Rev. Michelle Rado for the purpose of the symbolic expression of lifting the veils that block our sight so that we can see through Spirits eyes, uncovering the truth that we are the Light of the Universe.

The Ceremony

Preparation: This ceremony will take part in a room with two tables setup as altars.

1)   Electric or Battery Operated Large Candle

2)   Large regular candle equal in size to the Battery operated Candle

3)   Two Tables to use as Altars

4)   Table Cloths for each Altar

5)   Candle Protector (This will be used to cover the electric candle, it can be a large cup, a bowl, a small bucket, anything that will place a safe distance between the electric candle light and material which is going to be draped over it but the item must be see through so the light of the electric candle can be seen through it)

6)   9 – pieces of thin material cut into 1-yard pieces. (Recommend something that is thin but not too shear, you will want total darkness at the start of the ceremony)

7)   Write each of the 9 layers of Veil on separate index cards or pre-printed cards. Minister to Keep card #9 representing (Grievances of Any Kind). Cards 1-8 to be placed on Alter #1.

8)   Incense Matches (recommend a calming scent such as Sandalwood or Lavender)

9)   Chimes or Gong

Setting:

The lighting in the room shall be very low, just enough so that people can read the cards as needed.

Altar #1 – Place table cloth on Altar, then place electric candle in center. Turn candle on and cover with see through Candle Protector. Then cover with all 9 layers of material. (the goal is that no light should be shining through the material) Place cards 1-8 on Altar.

Altar #2 – Place a table cloth on the Altar, then place the real candle in the center of the Altar. Make sure that the incense matches are available for use.

Introduction: Standing in a circle around Alter #1, the minister makes one sound of the Chimes or Gong. When the sound complete, she begins.

“We are the light of the Universe. Within us all is a light so bright that its power heals all that it touches.   Human eyes cannot see this light; it can only be seen with our spiritual sight, that sight which was given to us by the source of Love that created us. And which nothing can obstruct, lest it be of our own choosing.” The purpose of this ceremony is to take a step towards our healing, by opening our minds and hearts up to the power that our seemingly small everyday choices have had on our natural spiritual site, lifting the veil, layer by layer, that we have placed between our small self, the one with a name a features that we identify with, and our True Self, the Singular, all encompassing Love, the Source from which we come, and the truth of who we really are as the light that fills the Universe with Love.”

Minister (or facilitator) instructs everyone to hold hands, and prays, “help us to look upon the pure bright light within us, that you placed there. Our light beam, showing us the way home, back to your loving arms. We are grateful for this opportunity to join together and experience physically, in this world that we find ourselves for a short time, the truth about what we are and the truth that we never really left, we just were never taught how to look with our true eyes, our spiritual eyes, upon the Love that forms the foundation of all life. Today, we use our body’s eyes, as we take baby steps, learning how to see for the first time, truly through the eyes of the spirit that we are. We are in gratitude for our brothers and sisters who join us, for our growing awareness, and for your everlasting love” .

Removing the Layers of the veil:

The minister calls each participant up by name

____________________________(name), will you please select one of the cards from the Altar and read it to us. Then, upon completion of reading the card, please remove one layer of the veil.

Each participant selects, a card, reads it aloud, and removes a layer of the Veil. If there are less than 8 participants, simply continue going around the circle until all the cards have been read. Each card, provides instructions to the participant, to Pause and allow the Minister to Speak. At this time, the minister wil speak on each topic as guided by spirit.

The minister holds Card #9 and will read that one last.

Layers of the Veil (Each title and statement to be written on a card)

Fear –

“The escape from darkness involves two stages: First, the recognition that darkness cannot hide. This step usually entails fear. Second, the recognition that there is nothing you want to hide even if you could. This step brings escape from fear. When you have been willing to hide nothing, you will not only be willing to enter into communion but will also understand peace and joy.” T.Ch1.IV.P11,p1

Fear blocks my true vision; I surrender all of my fear to the Source of Love within me and let it guide my way, and remove this fear from my heart so that I might see that I am the light of the universe.

Guilt –

“You think you are the home of evil, darkness and sin. You think if anyone could see the truth about you he would be repelled, recoiling from you as if from a poisonous snake. You think if what is true about you were revealed to you, you would be struck with horror so intense that you would rush to death by your own hand, living on after seeing this being impossible. These beliefs so firmly fixed that it is difficult to help you see that they are based on nothing. “W. L93,p161p1 & p2 1.   By removing all guilt from our minds, we are freed to remember who we really are, guiltless and in Peace. Holding onto Guilt, puts a barrier between our peaceful Source and us.

Guilt blocks my true vision, I surrender all of the Guilt that I have hidden and which I carry, to the Source of Love within me, and let it guide my way removing all guilt from my heart so that I might see that I am the light of the universe.

Judgment –

“How willing are you to forgive your brother? How much do you desire peace instead of endless strife and misery and pain?” T.CH29,p615 VI. P1 1-2. To judge is to condemn, to compare yourself to another, to set yourself apart and cover your eyes behind the veil of separation. Let us not judge our brothers and sisters, as this only serves to convince ourselves that we are separate, serving only to cut us off from the truth of our Oneness with All.

 Suffering –

“Suffering is an emphasis upon all that the world has done to injure you” T Ch27 pg581 VII. P1 1. To suffer is to believe that we are victims of the world. As we believe this, we are blind to who we really are. We are a powerful child of God, the light of the Universe and nothing can harm us in truth. Until we learn this, pain has served a purpose, it helped to remind us of our belief that we are vulnerable when in truth we are not. We lovingly thank the pain and the resulting suffering in our lives for having shown us where we needed to heal, as we continue to awaken to who we really are, we recognize that we no longer need to suffer, we can choose otherwise.

Suffering blocks my true vision, I surrender my suffering to the Source of Love within me and let it guide my way, as I recognize that there is no need to suffer further.

Defensiveness–

“Defensiveness is weakness.” W L153 pg285 P7 1. When we are defensive, we proclaim to ourselves and to the world that we are so very weak that we must protect ourselves and that there is no one else out there to protect us. We believe we are alone. In this, we have forgotten that we are powerful and safe at all times, surrounded by a loving universe.

Defensiveness blinds us to the truth that we have nothing to fear. I surrender my defensiveness to the Source of Love within me and let it guide my way, I acknowledge that all strength has been given to me at birth, from One whose solely loving purpose is my highest good, I accept my true strength now.

Anger –

To feel angry, you must first feel like you have been attacked. To feel attacked, you must first feel like attack is possible. To believe that attack is possible, you must have forgotten who you really are.

Anger blocks my true vision, I surrender all of my anger to the Source of Love within in, and let it guide my way, removing all Anger from my heart so that I might see that I am the light of the universe.

Anxiety –

Anxiety is a disturbance of your peace of mind. Any disturbance of your peace of mind is significant. It is impossible that the light of the Universe be disturbed in any way. If you are experiencing even the slightest bit of anxiety it is a sign that you have forgotten who you truly are.

Anxiety blocks my true vision; I surrender my anxieties to the Source of Love within me and let it guide my way, removing anxiety from my heart so that I might see that I am the light of the universe.

Complacency –

Complacency means that I accept the world the way that it is and do not recognize the need to awaken into the full awareness of my Oneness with All, and the truth of who I really am.

Complacency blocks my true vision; I surrender my complacent attitude to the Source of Love within me and let it guide my way, so that I might see that I am powerful and capable as the light of the universe.

Grievance of Any kind (read by minister)-

“You who were created by love like itself, can hold no grievances and know your Self. To hold a grievance is to forget who you are. To hold a grievance is to see yourself as a body. To hold a grievance is to let the ego rule your mind and to condemn the body to death. “ W-L68,pg115 P1, 1-7. “he who holds grievances denies he was created by love” W-L68,pg115 P2, 4  The Minister instructs everyone to close their eyes “Search your mind for those that you hold a major grievance towards……”allow time”…”now think of the seemingly minor grievances that you hold within your heart against those that you believe you like or even love. As the faces of these individuals come to mind, realize that the grievance you hold towards them, separates you from your loving Source. Now that you realize this, you allow yourself to forgive all grievances and let them go easily, surrendering them to the Source of Love within you, and ask It to guide you so that you will no longer maintain any separation between yourself and your loving Source, as you choose to let go of all grievances, you begin to see through Spirits Eyes, the light that shines brightly from your inner altar and surrounds the world with Love. (the minister invites everyone to open their eyes, and she lifts the final Veil to reveal the full brightness of the electric candle.)In gratitude we thank you for showing us the truth of who we are, and for giving us the tools to truly see, with open hearts we look upon, this light. This represents our light, the truth of who we are, and that which we shine upon the earth as we go forth and share our growing awareness with All.

The minister turns off the electric candle, and says, “ this growing awareness is but a step, one in many that we commit to take as we awaken to the truth of who we really are. Our human eyes deceive us often, we acknowledge this lovingly, we do not judge ourselves as we step forward, this is a simple and innocent fact of the world that we find ourselves living in. We will have moments of clarity, and then we will fall back into the world of illusion, forgetting the light that we carry within. It is up to us to remember the truth, and when we have slipped back into forgetfulness, covering our eyes with the veil, let us gently remind ourselves that as easily as we forget, we can also remember.”

The minister asks all to step over and form a circle around Alter #2. She asks everyone to hold hands, and as she lights the candle in the center she says, “let this candle represent the unwavering light that shines through us all, the one light, that brightens the universe and can never be extinguished even in our times of forgetfulness. As we go about our days and nights to come, we shall not judge ourselves should we find that we have forgotten to shine our Light brightly, we will simply lovingly remember this moment, the deep sense of rightness that we feel, the sense of truth that speaks to us silently from within our Soul, and we will once again remember. As we remember now, in this moment, our Light shines upon the world, and we participate in the joy that is our birthright.”

Closing:

Use the Gong or Chimes to make a single sound. Upon the completion of the sound the minister says, “The quiet light in which the Holy Spirit, that Love which is your Source, dwells within you is merely perfect openness, in which nothing is hidden and therefore nothing is fearful. Attack will always yield to love if it is brought to love, not hidden from it. There is no darkness that the light of love will not dispel, unless it is concealed from love’s beneficence. What is kept apart from love cannot share its healing power, because it has been separated off and kept in darkness. “ T.CH14. VI. Pg285 P2, With this new awareness, we open our hearts, we see the light, the truth that shines within us and we are grateful for this truth. Go forth now into this world, with new awareness in your heart, shine your light, share with all that you see, in thought, word and silent gestures, your love and knowledge that we are here as Light of the Universe, Salvation comes through us, it is the gift that we bring to All”.
